The present day Old Sodus Point Light was constructed in 1870, replacing the first light from 1825. The light has been inactive since 1901, when it was determined that the Sodus Pierhead Light, built the same year, was sufficient for navigation. The Sodus Bay Historical Society maintains the property today. The 3 1/2 order Fresnel lens still occupies the tower.

The tower is open to the public to climb, and a small maritime museum dedicated to the history of the station is housed within the structure. An outdoor wedding at the light was just clearing out during our arrival to the light. I snapped the bottom right photo while peering out of the top tower window onto the wedding below. The Pierhead Light can be seen in the distance.
