The Cleveland East Entrance Light is located at the far east end of a very long breakwater wall. It is the second beacon to occupy the location, built as a modern D9 steel tower from the 50s or 60s. The original lighthouse was a small open web steel tower from 1915, but was later replaced by the modern light.
The 47 foot tall tower is still an active aid to navigation, flashing a red light at 3 seconds on, 3 seconds off. The light marks the eastern entrance into Cleveland Harbor. The west entrance is the main route into the harbor though, guarded by the East and West Pierhead Lights on both sides of the entrance.
