Located on the southwest corner of the island, the lighthouse is passed by many tourists aboard the ferry shuttles to Put-In-Bay during the summer. The light is owned by Ohio State University as a research complex and is not open to the public for touring. The Marblehead and Old Port Clinton Lights are also located within a short drive of the ferry docks at Port Clinton and Lakeside.

S. Bass Island is located a couple miles offshore from Sandusky Bay & Port Clinton. Other attractions in the area include Cedar Point Amusement Park (a rollercoaster enthusiast's heaven), Captain Perry Monument at S. Bass Island (an elevator ride to the top provides an excellent view), the Lonz Winery on Middle Bass Island, & some of the best Walleye fishing in the US.
