Lifesaving Stations are not actually lighthouses, but their importance to the maritime industry are on equal footing to the lights. Many incredible stories of bravery and selfishness have been told of the men who risked their lives in powerful storms to save the sailors in distress. I have included photos of the few stations I have shot into the 'Lighthouse Gallery' section of my site where applicable.
The Point Judith Lifeboat Station was originally constructed in 1876. The station was rebuilt in 1888 as a Bibb #2-type station. The Coast Guard rebuilt the structure with larger quarters and support buildings in 1937. A Lifesaving station from 1872 was also located here, but burned down in 1938. The Point Judith Lighthouse is also located nearby on the Coast guard property.
