Rose Island Light was built in 1869. Upon completion of the Newport Bridge in 1969, the station lost it's importance & was closed. The light was restored in 1990 after years of neglect.
I snapped this photograph aboard a cruise on the Madeleine Schooner, docked in Newport. It was a sunny autumn day in New England, perfect for sailing around the scenic harbor & bay.
