Burnt Mountain is located southwest of Snowmass, with the small skiing village at it's foot. This photograph was taken from the very top of the summit, looking south over the Elk Mountains and valleys below. A patch of wildflowers were at my feet, with a very large cliff a dozen yards ahead. Tourists flock the Aspen & Snowmass resorts in the winter of course, but spring is a more beautiful experience in my opinion.

We four wheeled our way up to the summit of the mountain on a scenic three hour jeep tour. The weather was splendid, so riding in the open air vehicle was a truely enjoyable experience. We took an hour break at the summit of the mountain for a picnic lunch and exploration walk of the summit. Even though the oxygen was a bit lacking at the summit for an Ohio resident like myself, the summer flowers and views were stunning.
