| Blowing Rock is a formation located high above the Johns River Gorge, on the Continental Divide. The formation creates one of the few spots on earth where it actually snows upward. |
An ancient Indian myth states that a young maiden's Cherokee lover had jumped off the cliff. After she prayed to the Great Spirit, a strong wind blew him safely up to the rock's summit. |
