| Jockey's Ridge State Park is located on the Roanoke Sound side of Nags Head. The park includes the tallest sand dune on the east coast. The 420+ acre dune varies from 90 to 110 feet in height. |
The dune is gradually losing it's overall height, from a peak of 140 ft. tall at the turn of the century. The park is a popular hang glider's heaven, and all the children love rolling down the steep slopes. |
