MEMORIAL DAY
Cleveland Chapter will meet at Acacia Park Cemetery on Monday, May 30 to participate in our Annual Memorial Day Observance. Acacia Park is located just north of the traffic circle on S.O.M. Center Road (Ohio 91) in Mayfield Heights.
Our President directs that the membership assemble in March Formation on the tarmac West of the Obelisk in the Park at 0930 Hours. The formation will begin its march to the obelisk at 1000 hours. The membership will dress as if attending a Masonic Meeting, and will wear the Sojourner Medals in their coat pockets. The ceremonies will proceed as scheduled rain or shine.
Family and friends are invited to observe the ceremonies. Please advise them to bring lawn chairs to assure their comfort. Our Speaker-of-the-Day will be Brother Chester Willey, Director of the Chorus of the Valley of Cleveland, A.A.S.R. His topic will be "Music and Masons, The True Story of the Origin of TAPS".
The Scottish Rite Chorus will present music appropriate to the occasion. Taps will be played by Capt. Ed Henry. If suitable arrangements can be made, there will be a 21-gun salute by a firing squad, and a presentation of "Amazing Grace" by a bagpiper.
These Ceremonies have been conducted annually since the early 1920s when the Park was established. The Order of Ceremony was developed by MWB and 1st Lt. William Perkins and Major William Koeckert approximately 20 years ago.
Brother Sojourners, the participation of each one of us in these ceremonies enhance us as we recognize our military brethren for the sacrifices that permit us now to enjoy our freedom. We encourage you all to make every effort to attend!
Should you have any questions, please contact the Director of Ceremonies, Major William Koeckert at 216-297-1252

Heroes Activities
On Saturday, February 19, 2005, Moses Cleaveland Camp, Heroes of '76, held a bivouac at the Masonic Center located at 3615 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. The Camp Commander ordered that sentries be posted along the banks of the Cuyahoga and two tattered scoundrels staggered into the lines. Upon examination and trial it was found that these two individuals were truly patriots searching to join a unit and fight for the cause of Independence. Brother's Charles Cole and Raymond Bishop were properly inducted, instructed, and now stand ready as the newest recruits.

Highlights of Last Meeting
The March meeting held on March 17th, 2005 at Dimitri's was well attended. We all enjoyed a great selection of dinner entree's, and good fellowship as well as many Irish specialties. Tales were exchanged, and the conversation was lively. MAJ William Koeckert made a presentation on the history and symbolism of the Sojourners ROTC Award and the numerous secondary and college/university presentations that are scheduled over the next few months. Volunteers came forward to assist MAJ Koeckert make the presentations throughout Northeast Ohio.

Membership-In-Perpetuity (MIP)
Life membership in National Sojourners is obtained through Membership-In-Perpetuity (MIP). An MIP cost only $200.00. Comparing MIP to yearly dues paying membership, MIP is the best deal in town. At the current rate of $29.00 annual dues, an MIP will pay for itself in less than 7 years. Payment may be submitted to the Secretary. The Secretary will then forward the application and fees to National Headquarters who will issue a permanent membership card and MIP Star for your Sojourner Medal.

Honorary Membership
Honorary members are those Master Masons who are ineligible for Active membership, but who have been regularly elected to membership in a Chapter of National Sojourners in recognition of meritorious service to the nation or Freemasonry.
The Chapter has a 15% limit of honorary members, therefore, recommendations for honorary membership must be coordinated with the President and the Secretary. As our number of regular Active members increase, so does our limit for honorary members. So. let's find those Master Masons who are eligible and get their applications submitted.
Grand Masters, Past Grind Masters, Grand Secretaries and elected Grand Lodge Officers do not count against the 15% limit.

Bridge of Light
All Sojourners should attend at least one stated meeting of their Lodge annually, be present at the conferral of the three Blue Lodge Degrees annually, and attend the Annual Masonic District meeting whenever able. Show support to the York Rite, Scottish Rite, Shrine, Grotto, Tall Cedars, Eastern Star, Amaranth, DeMolays, Rainbows and all other organizations that are members of our Masonic family. Your time and your generosity are needed to support the good work done by all of our fraternal organizations. Decide where you can best contribute and take an active part. Just as Sojourners have been leaders in their military callings, so should they use the leadership skills acquired there to strengthen their Masonic and civil duties and responsibilities.
Sojourners Endowment Fund ~ 3-6-5 Club
The Sojourner Endowment Memorial (SEM) is the primary means of support for National Sojourners. The 3-6-5 Club is totally voluntary and a major contributor to the SEM. Our Chapter receives credit each time a member contributes to the 3-6-5 Club. For the amount of $36.50, you become a Life Member. All contributions to the SEM Fund are TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
2005 National Convention
The National Convention will be held June 21 - 25, 2005 at the Airport Hilton Hotel in Bloomington, MN. Make plans to attend this one, too and be a part of setting the course for National Sojourners in the coming year(s).
June Meeting Agenda
The Annual Installation of Officers for 2005-2006 will be held on June 16, 2005 at Dimitri’s Restaurant. Your attendance is respectfully requested. The Chapter thanks the present Corps of Officers for their time and dedication in leading the Chapter during the preceding year.
